(Based on Dr R Steiner’s indications on the breath and incorporating the work of Dr Buteyko)
‘For this is a great secret; all the healing forces reside originally in the human breathing system. Anyone who truly understands the whole dimension of the breath knows the healing forces from the human side. ‘
Dr Rudolf Steiner. Lecture 5, 13th October 1923 – ‘The Working Together of the Four Archangels’ from the book ‘The Four Seasons and the Archangels.’
We are now pleased to offer our breathing therapies on an ongoing basis to groups or individuals via the Melbourne Therapy Centre. Our methods are based on the understanding that dysfunctional breathing is an important factor in many chronic illnesses and that insights on the breath, given by Dr R Steiner at the beginning of the 20th century and in the late nineteen hundreds by Dr K Buteyko, compliment each other and offer many opportunities to understand the causes and remedy of such illnesses, even if we can’t claim that we “…truly understand the whole dimension of the breath”.
Also these two streams of knowledge, together with the recent discovery (Karolinska Institute, Stockholm –2000) that nitric oxide is produced in the paranasal sinuses, now enable us to design breathing exercises which can assist with a return to full health by normalizing the bodies chemistry with correct breathing patterns.
Since hidden hyperventilation, mouth breathing and chest breathing are the predominant forms that dysfunctional breathing takes it follows that any drugs, equipment or surgery that inadvertently maintains or increases pre-existing excessive breathing volumes may well serve to exacerbate such illnesses despite the admirable intention to perhaps save lives in the shorter term.
The information available on our website www.remedialbreathing.com provides some understanding of the contribution that dysfunctional breathing makes to the development of many illnesses and attendance at the Therapy Centre will enable us to diagnose whether or not your established breathing patterns are dysfunctional.
Over the last 11 years – the last seven of them at the Christian Community Church - we have worked with approx. 650 patients who believed that dysfunctional breathing might be an important factor in their illnesses and were able to prescribe appropriate remedial breathing exercises and regimes to help bring healing.
For example – our last course in December 2007 run through the Christian Community in Perth had 26 people in attendance with 70 different illnesses and symptoms. In October the situation was similar in Auckland and Hastings
Depending on the interest, dates and times for attendance at our Clinic/s will be planned in the immediate future. Four to five sessions of approx 1.5 – 2 hours duration each is always sufficient for the establishment of the self help tools which make up the therapy.
$30.00 per visit.
